Let’s Stick Together (short version)

On ‘yes’ and ‘no’ and the courage to look in between

Yes, that – that’s what I want. Not that. I’m standing here. I know what I want.

All day long there are things to want and choose. But sometimes, suddenly – there aren’t. Then there’s someone else with a ‘no’, a ‘you mustn’t’, or you feel inside ‘I don’t want to’. Do you go against it, pretend it isn’t there, or go along with the other? And where do ‘yes’ and ‘no’ actually come from?

In Let’s Stick Together, you’ll explore alongside dancers Bryan, Myrthe and Marti how ‘yes’ and ‘no’ manifest in the body – when they freeze, clash or set in motion. Through wild martial arts scenes with sticks, moments of verbal confusion and situations where you can assert your own ‘yes’ and ‘no’, you’ll discover how differences can actually become a source of connection, growth and fun.

This bold and funny show is suitable for everyone aged 4 and over, and will become even more interesting, if you bring along someone from a different generation as ‘yes’ and ‘no’ differences become bigger. Nevertheless – do come along either way if you’re already feeling a ‘yes’.

This is a short version of the new research by The100Hands into resilience in the different experiences of children and adults. It is suitable for children +4 and adults alike.

It is accessible to wheelchair users (we ask wheelchair visitors to please notify us in advance), as well as to audience members with mental disabilities. The performance contains some text and features music. It can perform in theatres, festivals, at alternative venues (indoor and outdoor) and schools.

For Festival Boulevard we will make a ‘chilled edition’ – a performance with low stimulation. If you are not sure if you ‘can handle it’, get in touch – we will do our best to answer your questions and think with you.
