Line Engravers
‘Engraving’ is a word used to describe the action of cutting or carving patterns in hard material.
In this acrobatic and explosive energy bomb the dancers use their bodies and movement to draw all kinds of lines between each other, the space and the audience. The performance was created for the busy streets of downtown Cairo (Egypt) and was later on reworked for an abandoned printing factory in Hasselt (Belgium). Currently it’s searching for new surprising locations and communities to energize and add a fresh perspective to its surrounding.

‘It is said that they drew inspiration from Kaiel. But they are not mere imitators; they bring their own energy and unique twist to their dance. They already shone in the small performances at the festival, and also on the bus to the factory spaces of an old printing plant. There, the movements of the two male dancers and the female dancer burst apart like an explosive bomb. Their acrobatic feats, their dancing among the audience, their bodies whirling across the concrete floor and through the space—all of it left marks like etching needles. What infectious energy, what an impressive display, what striking individuality!’
